Colony Project Rubric

You have been / will be assigned one of the original thirteen British Colonies to research and glean information on its founding and colonial history (up through approx. 1750) to prepare for a presentation to your classmates.

In this project you are to either 1) write a report, and / or 2) create a poster demonstrating your research.

Please include the following information:

µ             When

µ             Where

µ             Why the colony was founded

µ             A map – that includes major settlements and the location of any notable events

µ             Description of daily life (types of houses, food, chores, etc.)

µ             Description of the local government

µ             Religion

µ             Pictures of notable individuals

µ             The economy (farms, industry, trade…)

µ             A Time-line of the major historical events from its founding up until 1750.

µ             Any other Cool Facts you want to share!!!!

µ             REMEMBER to provide a list of your major sources of information
